Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by! Here is where you get to learn about me in a little bit more detail than that front page lets on! So let’s get going, shall we?
I’m guessing the first thing on your mind when you see my articles is “what is this girl all about?”, and I’m here to tell you! So my story is, kind of long, but short and sweet at the same time.
Sports–this is kind of where my story begins. I grew up playing sports, and played them all throughout high school. I know what you’re thinking, ‘oh for the love, another sporty person who’s never had weight issues is telling me she gets it’. Well guess what, I totally do! Even though I played sports a ton, I yo-yo’d like the best of them! Those off seasons were ROUGH and I could never really get in sync with my nutrition. I knew how to do the working out stuff, but utterly failed at everything else just because I wasn’t educated in it
Fast forward a few years, (or, like 6), and I was in London getting my masters in Marketing. One of the girls I knew over there was a personal trainer while she was going into Optometry. I remember her telling me that and my reaction was ‘MAN! I wish I could do that!’ She was like um, duh, you totally can, but I didn’t think twice about it, I was getting my Masters in something completely different than that. And then one day after I had gotten back from a run, my flatmate was desperate for me to teach her how to do squats correctly. We sat in the front room and I taught her and she was like ummm, why aren’t you a trainer, I feel so much more comfortable now. Again, didn’t really think twice. I graduated and finally moved back home.
Once I got home, I looked EVERYWHERE for a marketing job. I even tried to get unpaid internships. Everyone’s response was either ‘you’re too qualified’, or ‘oh you don’t have enough experience’. What is that? I hate that! It was during this time that I was like you know, I think I want a personal trainer because I want to get back into really good shape. I looked, and looked, and looked for a trainer, and then saw how much it cost to hire one. So, me and my grand ideas, I was like forget that, I can teach myself. So I did. I bought the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) personal training book, got hired on with a gym, and passed the test. BOOM. I was now a personal trainer. And it’s been amazing.
Right now I do marketing during the day, and train as part of my side hustle. I can not tell you how excited I get when I get to train. I live for it. I also realized that I can only help a limited amount of people that way and I wanted to help the masses. So that’s why I decided to do this blog. It’s somewhere that I can give you as many tips and advice as possible so you feel comfortable owning that gym. Because you deserve to be there, I don’t care who says anything different. And I want you to feel comfortable coming to me with ANY questions! I’ve taken multiple classes and passed many a long and hard tests to be able to help YOU out. Here’s a rundown on my certificates:
- NASM-Certified Personal Trainer
- NESTA-Physique and Figure Training Specialist
- Metabolic Precision- Nutrition Specialist
- Bootcamp Instructor
- Group Fitness Instructor
- Coming Up: NESTA Biomechanics
4. The Fam Bam
I am fortunate enough to be with the love of my life who has also gotten the fitness bug! I keep teasing him that he needs to get certified so he can make me do cardio because I hate it. Like, hate it. I experience denial every time I have to make myself do it.
In the future, we want to open our own gym so personal trainers can come in and train their clients their way, and charge their own rates. Personal trainers get screwed out of pay a lot of times, if you didn’t know. We also hope to make it so that people can pay on a sliding scale-paying what they can afford because everyone should have access to a trainer. We’re dealing with lives here!
So there you have it, folks! That’s me! What are you like?? I want to meet you! Leave me a little about yourself in the comments and let’s be each other’s motivation 🙂
